Uma Melkania a
Professor and Head in Department of Environmental Sciences, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, G B Pant Univ. of Agri.
& Tech., Pantnagar. Her research interests include Forest Ecology and environmental science, environmental management
with emphasis on sustainable utilization of fodder and fuel, soil fertility and industrial pollution, Bio diversity and impact
of human activities on Biosphere Reserve. She was a recipient of UNESCO-ROSTACA young scientist award in Ecology for sustainable
development in agriculture and bio mass for the year 1990, Fellow, National Institute of Ecology, India, Member, Research
Advisory Committee, Rain Forest Research Institute (ICFRE). She has more than 28 years of teaching, research / training experience.
She has visited more than 12 countries on various assignments. She has organised more than five training programmes. She worked
as short term coordinator Technology in a World Bank aided Project (U P Forestry Project) , Forestry Training Institute.
Before joining the Pantnagar University, She has served
at Indian Institute of forest Management, Bhopal and North-Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technlogy, Itangar,
Arunachal Pradesh.
She is a founder memebr of Cetral Himalayan Environmental
Association and life member of Society for Agro Forestry Research and Member, International Society for Tropical Ecology,
National Institute of Ecology. She has research experience of working in Central Himalayan Region, Central India and
Noth Eastern Himalayan region. To her credit she has more than 33 research papers in reputed national and international
journals, 26 papers in proceedings, 05 popular articals,. She has supervised 09 research projects. She has also coordinated
National Seminar on Forestry for Food:Challenges for 2000 A.D. and co-edited the book on proceedings of the seminar.
Jyothi
Prasad is in the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Technology, G B Pant Univ. of Agri. and
Tech., Pantnagar 263 145, Uttaranchal. She did her graduation from University of Mysore and Post graduate
from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and presently pursuing her research at National Institute of Technology, Warangal. She got
more than sixteen years of teaching experience at different institutions. She
has more than sixteen publications of National and International journals / conferences to her credit. She has organised four
short term training programmes for the faculty of engineering colleges and attended several training programmes organised
by DST, DOE, AICTE, ISTE, NAAC, ICH etc. She was a member of Maharastra-Goa section management committee for two years (1997-98)
and worked as secretary cum treasurer of ISTE Chapter, MHSS COE, Mumbai for six years. She is a life member of professional
bodies like Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Third World Organisation for Women in Science (TWOWS), International
Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) and Indian Society of Remote Sensing etc.
H J Shiva Prasad
is in the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Technology, G B Pant Univ. of Agri. and Tech., Pantnagar 263 145, Uttaranchal.
He did his graduation from University of Mysore and Post graduate
from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and presently pursuing his research at Sambalpur University,
Burla, Orissa. He got more than eighteen years of industry and teaching experience at different organisations. He has publications of National and International journals / conferences to his credit. He attended several
training programmes organised by DOE, AICTE, ISTE etc and many conferences, conventions. He coordinated and worked on many
projects funded by ADB, The World Bank, HUDCO, IL&FS, Urban Authorities, Govt of India and State Governments when he was working with
reputed consulting company TATA’s. He was managing committee member of Indian Water Works Association during 1996-1998.
He is a life member of professional bodies like ISTE, IWRS, IAHS, IAH, IWWA, MIE, ASCE-IS etc. Presently, he is working as
Secretary-cum-Treasurer of ISTE Chapter, Pantnagar.
